Shoreham Port establishes electric HGV charging

Shoreham Port needed reliable overnight charging for its first two electric HGVs, but the system had to work within the limits of the existing electrical supply. DW Energy designed and delivered two 80 kW EV chargers with a 200 kWh battery storage system, using the port’s existing 90 kWp solar PV array to help support charging demand with more renewable energy generated on site.

Berth ZeroShore power

Shoreham Port strengthens sustainable shore power at Berth Zero

DW Energy designed and installed a new shore power network at Berth Zero, supporting ten fishing vessels across five berths. The system reduces reliance on onboard diesel generators while vessels are berthed and provides reliable power for refrigeration, unloading and auxiliary supplies, using robust infrastructure suited to an exposed coastal environment.

Funding and grant support

Funding support for port decarbonisation and commercial energy upgrades

Ports and commercial fleet operators may be able to access support for clean maritime infrastructure, shore power, vessel charging, depot charging, workplace EV charging and onsite renewable energy systems. Funding windows are limited and eligibility varies, so speak to DW Energy to understand what may be relevant to your site.

  • Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition funding can support feasibility studies, pre-deployment trials and deployment trials for clean maritime technology and infrastructure.
  • Zero Emission Vessels and Infrastructure funding can support battery electric vessels, vessel charging, shore power and related port energy infrastructure.
  • Depot and workplace charging schemes may support eligible organisations installing EV charging for HGVs, vans, coaches, staff vehicles or operational fleets.
  • Business rates support may apply to eligible onsite renewable generation and storage, including solar PV, battery storage and storage used with EV charging infrastructure.
